Bringing theory into practice, one landscape at a time

In Part 2, students step out of the classroom and into real-world ecosystems to apply the skills they have learned. This immersive fieldwork experience connects scientific theory with the realities of resource management on the ground.

Activities include:

  • Site visits to farms, forests, conservation areas, and water bodies
  • Mapping using GPS and drone technology
  • Sampling of soils, plants, and water for analysis
  • Interviews and interactions with local stakeholders and resource users
Methods:

Participants work in small teams, conduct field labs, gather real data, and practice field techniques critical for environmental monitoring and research.

Skills developed:
  • Data collection protocols and standards
  • Field data interpretation and initial analysis
  • Teamwork and field leadership
