Sustainable Natural Resource Management in Africa Summer School

Participants

A total of 26 postgraduate students (MSc and PhD) were selected from a pool of 225 applicants across Africa.

  • Gender Breakdown: 11 Female, 15 Male

  • Countries Represented:
    Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Benin, Cameroon, South Sudan, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Ghana, DRC, Ivory Coast

Course Overview

The third session of SNRM 2023 focused on key thematic areas including:

  • Data management for the sustainable use of natural resources

  • Theory of Change

  • Translating research into practice and policy

  • System dynamics and thinking in natural resource management

  • Modelling of dynamic systems using VENSIM

Achievements and Outcomes (SNRM 1 to 3)

  • A total of 66 young African MSc and PhD students were trained across the 3 summer schools.

  • 6 students participated in two different summer schools (SNRM1 & SNRM2 or SNRM2 & SNRM3).

  • The program successfully accommodated 2 female students with infants, promoting inclusive participation.

Participants gained critical analytical skills and were introduced to modern tools for data analysis and modeling, enhancing their research capabilities
